Life in October

So October has to be one of my favorite months of the year....I LOVE FALL.....it is cool and is just my favorite time of the year. Maybe because the holidays are coming and I am a very holiday loving person? I'm not sure but I have always liked it. Now when I lived in Canada it was easy, we did fall decorations in September, beginning of October we add the thanksgiving decorations and then after thanksgiving everything comes down and we do Halloween decorations, right? Well here in the USA it is a little different. I put up my fall decorations toward the end of September then have to blend my Halloween decorations in around second week of October then put Halloween decorations away right after the 31st but keep up the fall until American thanksgiving toward the end of November......weird and difficult for an OCD person but I am adjusting and just doing the best I can.... :)

We did a lot of fun family things this month and again because I love this time of year I try to plan as many outings as I can. We have a lot of family traditions , places we go to year after year and I love it!!! I am very thankful to my Mom for this tradition being instilled in me and it brings such joy to my heart to pass these things on to my kids and give her credit since they won't get to meet her and experience our craziness over holidays that we used to experience when my Mom was alive!!!

This month we went to a friends house and did a fall project and made homemade pretzels, we went out for Breakfast and then to Stoney Ridge Farms to look at the animals and do a pumpkin patch hayride, Decorated for Halloween, went to Belle Wood Acre Farms to buy pumpkins and mini pumpkins as well as our favorite honey crisp apples. We did a lot of fall and Halloween themed crafts and activities including making door hangers, Halloween gingerbread house, foam "spooky" house, and painted scarecrows. We played Fall Bingo and carved pumpkins as well as decorating pumpkins with a cool foam mask kit we bought.

We also went to Canada as a family to welcome a new addition to our family with my sister Candy and her husband Ryan's newest baby Norah!! Also enjoyed and evening of fun with Miss Laurel and Miss MC Kenna Fishbook at their house in Lynden!!! For Halloween we had a Halloween themed breakfast and then went to see the people at our doctors office and our Auntie Dana which has become a tradition. We usually go to the church for trunk or treat but it was pretty cold and very rainy so we went to the mall instead and the kids had a lot of fun and we were able to see their costumes cause they weren't covered up by coats and stuff, they got some candy and then we met some friends for dinner. After that we headed to Auntie Cheryl and Uncle Jeff's house another tradition we have done every year that we have been here....a super fun night was had by all :)

The kids are always saying and doing the funniest things and so I will give you a little individual report on them....

Olivia

- Loves to sing Christian songs and listen to her kids Sunday School CD. Her favorite song is Bless the Lord Oh my Soul, which she sings beautifully, "Bwess the Lord oh my sore......oh oh oh my sore worship his howy name..."

- Went to her dance class every Friday and really loves it.

- She is doing great with her school and want to do her school work everyday including weekends.

- set up her own tea party for her dolls and stuffed animals while she was playing on her own 1 day and she had never done that before so it was pretty cute.

- Loves bouncing in "Baby Brofers bed"

- She loves swimming, in the bath tub, puzzles, dressing up "fancy" for church and eating at the "Owive Garden" (Olive Garden)

- She was Cinderella for Halloween

She is a joy and whenever I ask her "why are you so beautiful?" She replies, "Because I have Jesus in my heart" How awesome is that??!! What an amazing girl she is and although these days are going by way too fast I am excited to see the beautiful girl, young lady and woman she will grow to be.

Malaya

- Is really enjoying singing and sings the entire opening to Little Einsteins and when we do our "Good morning" song for school I sing "Good morning Malaya how are you?" and his response is "I fi" (I'm fine) then he sings it back to me " oo onin ow r eww?" He calls spider man or anything spider related "spi spi" So cute!!

- talking more and started saying "we aw ewww?" (where are you) and does all the words for old MC Donald as best he can.

- when Olivia is doing school work he likes sitting in his chair and stringing bead or stacking dominoes or dauber lids.

- when you ask him to give you a smile he gives the best smiles I have ever seen and then if you say give me your eyes he does this side looking blinking thing that is the cutest thing I have ever seen.

- He was Mickey Mouse for Halloween

This little man is such an amazing blessing to our lives, he makes me laugh all the time and has such a great sense of humor even at this young age.....I can't believe he is almost 2. He is still a little small so we are keeping a check on his weight pretty regularly but he is healthy and active and although a handful at times a joy to have and I can't wait to see the amazing man of God he grows up to be!!!

So October was full of family fun and I am so excited now to look forward to the next 2 months with all the holiday fun and family traditions.....we truly are blessed.

Here are some pictures.....enjoy :) Sorry there are so many I love pictures :)
